Valdander Baths
Even though their origin is quite uncertain; tradition says that the healing characteristics of water were already known by the people in this area, who used the water for having baths in the small nearby grottos. The mineral water from the Valdander Baths is ideal for curing various rheumatic disorders and mainly skin and bone problems.

The single spruce tree in Issengo
With its thin and sleek branches which are closely attached to the tree trunk, this 25 m high tree is the only one of its kind in South Tyrol. Due to its unusual appearance and the special arrangement of the branches which clasp around the trunk, this tree is also called the "snake spruce". Only at the very top of the tree can you see some larger and smaller branches which look like those of a normal tree. The "snake spruce" is located near the road on the way from Terento to Falzes at the bottom of the hill on which "Schöneck" Castle thrones.
How to get there:
The snake spruce can be easily seen from the road which connects Terento and Falzes. It can also be reached on a round hike starting from Chienes (782 m) and hiking on the forest road to the electric power station and from there on path no. 65 through the forest.
Difference in altitude: 208 metres.
Walking time: 45 minutes

The pyramids in Terento
Just above the village of Terento in a 150 m large erosion basin a dozen pyramids have been formed. The formation of the pyramids dates back about 100 years, when the Terner River eroded the ground during flooding in 1873. The white towers are partially covered by a stone and are definitely worth a visit. The material of which the pyramids are composed derives from moraine deposits from the last Ice Age which ended about 10,000 years ago. At the lower part these deposits are formed by stones and blocks, while the upper parts mainly consist of grit, which gets a bright colour due to the granite material contained in it. The stones which cover the pyramids are very round. This is due to the fact that the grit does not originate from this area, but was transported here from a different area, very likely from the Aurina Valley.
How to get there:
From the Tourist Office in the village centre of Terento you follow the sign-posted bath no. 2 which leads through fields and forests and brings you to the road at the east slope of the Terento Valley. Here you'll find the pyramids (1350 m). The pyramids can also be reached by car.
Difference in altitude: 230 metres.
